Merchant Case Study: The Pro Shop.

16 September 2025

The cover of a The Pro Shop Merchant Case Study on the success of their Buy Now Pay Later partnership.

For golf enthusiasts, The Pro Shop is an institution.

In this case study, Sven Pederson, Marketing Manager at The Pro Shop discusses the partnership.

Who is The Pro Shop?

The Pro Shop opened its first store in 1976, and since then, has grown into Africa’s premier golf retail chain. With a strong online presence and 15 world-class stores, it commands over 50% of the golf equipment market. Beyond its top-notch stores and service centres, The Pro Shop offers customers a complete lifestyle experience, including access to themed golf parks, events, lessons, and golf booking apps that make it possible to book a game in just a few clicks.

The Challenge

The Pro Shop was looking to offer its customers an interest-free instalment option that was best equipped to increase conversions and average order values on premium golf equipment and gear. As well as offering their shoppers a more flexible way to pay, it was key that the payment provider they chose offered a customisable product that fit their unique business needs.

The Solution

In opting to partner with Float, The Pro Shop evaluated four key factors:

#1 The Pro Shop’s credit-savvy customer base was an ideal match with Float’s shoppers, all of whom are credit card holders with enough pre-approved credit to afford the items they want and need.

#2 With an online store, 15 physical stores and service centres requiring custom invoicing, Float’s omni-channel payment solution was the perfect fit as it allowed them to seamlessly process payments across all sales channels.

#3 Float’s track record in processing bigger ticket items neatly dovetailed with The Pro Shop’s goals to increase conversions and average order values.

#4 In addition to providing shoppers with payment flexibility, The Pro Shop looked for a partner with a customisable product offering. They needed the ability to set the number of instalments on offer to shoppers, define minimum and maximum order values, and control when and how they got settled.

The Results

Since first teaming up in 2023, The Pro Shop has seen impressive results both online and in-store. On average, in-store orders processed through Float are 255% larger than regular orders. This growth comes from a proactive partnership and collaborative marketing efforts, which have allowed The Pro Shop to access 5M+ credit card holders to drive big-ticket sales, without putting new credit in the system.
